Istil Telekom Ukraine plans to invest $50 million (€35.9 million) in the new Ukrainian DTH platform Xtra TV.
The news was given by CEO Jim Filipoff, speaking in a press conference and quoted by Mediasat, who added that although its business plan was designed for five years, the platform should be profitable after only two or three.
Filipoff also said that Xtra TV, which is distributed via Amos throughout the whole of Ukraine, already has a network of around 2,000 dealers and distributors in place.
Furthermore, it does not require subscribers to sign long-term agreements or to buy reception equipment from the company.
Filipoff also said that Xtra TV may add internet access to its offer at a future date and that the company plans to develop and manufacture its own receivers.
