Telenor growth continues

October 26, 2011 12.07 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Telenor has posted strong growth figures for both Q3 and the first three quarters of this year. However, its broadcast division saw a year-on-year dip in revenues, with DTH and cable subscriber figures also slightly down.

Telenor’s revenues in Q3 amounted to NOK24,631 million (€3,201.55 million), compared to NOK24,096 million a year earlier, while those for the first three quarters were NOK73,083 million (NOK69,985 million).

EBITDA before income and other expenses was NOK8,292 million (NOK7,885 million) in Q3 and NOK23,109 million (NOK22,042 million) in the first three quarters, while profit after taxes and non-controlling interests was NOK2,589 million (NOK1,698 million) in Q3 and NOK9,874 million (NOK12,230 million) in the first three quarters.

Total revenues at Telenor Broadcast were NOK1,762 million (NOK1,773 million) in Q3 and NOK5,323 million (NOK5,228 million) in the first quarters, with Canal Digital DTH and Satellite Broadcasting posting lower figures than a year earlier and Norkring and Conax showing strong growth.

Total operating profit for the broadcast group was nevertheless a healthy NOK393 million (NOK293 million) in Q3 and NOK923,000 (NOK755 million) in the first three quarters.

The DTH subscriber total at the end of September stood at 973,000 (1,025,000 a year earlier) and cable TV 226,000 (234,000).

Cable TV internet access was slightly down year on year, by 1,000 to 22,000.
