Sky D and TMG expand partnership

October 26, 2011 10.42 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Sky Deutschland has entered into a new agreement with German licensing and production company TMG about a new comprehensive film rights package.

The movie rights acquired comprise cinema highlights from 2011 and 2012 and also include utilisation via the new Sky products such as Sky Go and Sky Anytime.

The highlights of the package are 2011 blockbusters such as The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, the action comedy Red featuring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren as well as German indie-hit Almanya – Willkommen in Deutschland which has won the German Film Prize in two categories and achieved more than 1.3 million box office admissions in Germany.

The 2012 productions distributed by TMG are also very promising: Academy Award-winning actress Meryl Streep assumes the role of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady. And Steven Soderbergh presents Haywire, a thriller featuring Michael Douglas, Ewan McGregor, Antonio Banderas and Michael Fassbender.

Gary Davey, EVP programming at Sky Deutschland said in a statement: “TMG is an important partner for Sky. As one of the leading independent producers and distributors in Germany, TMG shares our commitment to quality and innovation. We look forward to closer collaborations together in the future.”

Dr. Herbert Kloiber, owner and managing director of TMG: “We are happy about the successful extension and expansion of our partnership with Sky and appreciate the innovative platforms Sky has created with Sky Go and Sky Anytime, which allow customers to access our screen highlights in many different and comfortable ways.”
