Czech O2TV rings in the changes

October 26, 2011 10.44 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The leading Czech IPTV platform O2TV will add nine more channels and revamp its VOD offer at the beginning of next month.

Six of the channels – Animal Planet HD, CT HD, Nova HD, Nova Sport HD, HBO HD and Filmbox HD – will be in HD, and of these two (CT HD and Nova HD) – will be part of the basic package Start, which is free to Home Internet users.

The remaining four HD channels will be added to O2TV’s thematic packages and subscription fees will remain unchanged.

There will also be three SD channels – Disney Junior, Animal Planet and Golf Channel – added to existing packages.

Meanwhile the VOD library will have a new HD section, initially consisting of 25 movies, with each costing CZK75 (€3.01) to rent.

In total, O2TV’s on demand service already has over 500 titles.

In other changes, from November 1 until the end of the year O2TV customers will be able to subscribe to the promotional offering of O2TV Recording, a function to record and playback any programme.

Furthermore, from November 1 TV Archive will be automatically activated to all customers of O2TV free of charge.

The platform’s promotion of O2TV bundled with Home Internet is also being extended until the end of the year.

O2TV is operated by Telefónica O2 and currently has around 130,000 subscribers.
