De Telegraaf launches interactive TV app

October 20, 2011 06.50 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Holland’s largest newspaper De Telegraaf has launched an interactive TV app on the Glashart Media FTTH networks. The app provides a mix of news, background articles, pictures and videos.

Hilversum based developer Stoneroos Interactive Television is responsible for the functional and graphic design and development of interactive TV application of De Telegraaf.

Niels Jonkman, responsible for TV services at Glashart Media: “We are very pleased to be working with De Telegraaf, which enables us to launch a valuable app for which our customers have shown a lot of interest. It’s great to offer television viewers the possibility to see the news of De Telegraaf via fibre in the best quality in the Netherlands.”

Jan-Kees Emmer, who as deputy editor of De Telegraaf is responsible for all digital and video activities, welcomes the Glashart platform. “In the changing media landscape, we are constantly looking for new ways to tell our stories. Creating mass reach belongs to the DNA of De Telegraaf and our underlying brands. Traditionally we have been active in print and on our websites, but we are increasingly active with video. This is why we expect a lot of the application of Glashart in terms of innovation.”

Annelies Kaptein, CEO of Stoneroos, “De Telegraaf TV app is a wonderful addition to the digital TV product from Glashart Media. New innovations prove every time to be a valuable complement to traditional TV viewing. Recent innovations, such as pause live TV viewing, catch-up TV and VOD services, make sure that the TV fset will maintain or a its central place in the living room for a long time. A news service, such as De Telegraaf TV app is a serious, potential replacement for the still popular teletext “.

The services of Glashart Media are available through a number of FTTH service providers: XMS, Lijbrandt, Edutel, OnsNetNuenen, OnsBrabantNet, OnsNetEindhoven, KickXL, Solcon, Concepts ICT and Tweak.
