Summer bundles warm Ziggo

October 14, 2011 11.31 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Ziggo has taken the penetration of digital TV services to 70% of its customer base.

Announcing its third quarter results, the largest cable operator in the Netherlands said an additional 130,000 digital customers had been added, while a pre-summer campaign for the successful All-in-1 bundle added 58,000 triple play customers to a total of 1.236 million (41% of the customer base).

The company also enjoyed the highest quarterly growth in broadband internet, 39,000 subscribers, since the company was formed in 2007.

The total number of TV customers is down to 3,021,000 homes, as compared 3.1 million on September 30, 2010. During the period, the number of analogue only households dropped from 1,360,00 to 920,000. The number of homes taking additional digital pay TV option has risen from 851,00 to 944,000.

Ziggo continues to increase the number of its broadband and telephony customers. Internet connections now stand at 1,643,00, VoiP home at 1,311,000. Ziggo said it delivered 149,000 iTV/PVR and HD boxes

“As anticipated, we experienced a very busy summer that started with successful marketing campaigns in June and July driving the addition of many new bundle customers, said Ziggo CEO Bernard Dijkhuizen. “We also successfully introduced our new TV proposition early September and migrated more than 3 million TV customers to our new TV proposition”.

Revenue of €375.6 million, increased by 9.7% when compared to Q3 2010; up 6.9% excluding decoder sales. Adjusted EBITDA of €210.0 million, was up 5.5% on Q3 2010.
