What is more, a Hulu model would work well in the country. Speaking in a presentation on the future of multiplatform TV, Ramazan Demir, VP strategy and business development, Türk Telekom, also said that the market for local content is becoming very popular in Turkey, having grown in value for TRY100 million (€40.12 million) to TRY1.2 billion today.
However, the VOD market is still in its infancy but at the same time connected TVs are becoming more affordable.
In the latter case, 56% of homes in the country are expected to have such TVs by 2015, while 15% will have 3DTVs.
Demir also said that Türk Telekom is “cautiously optimistic” about multiscreen, where it is already involved both as a technology production company and on the end-user side.
