IP&TV Forum EurAsiaEastEurope 2011 – ISTANBUL. Russia’s Vimpelcom plans to introduce OTT services and a bundled offer through a media gateway on its IPTV service Beeline TV in 2012, according to Anatoliy Smorgonski, head of marketing department of TV services & content at the company.
He added that Beeline TV, which was launched in May 2009 and is delivered via FTTB, is now available in over 33 cities throughout Russia and has 420,000 subscribers, or around 20% of its broadband customer total.
Its success can be put down to employing Microsoft Mediaroom and a quick regional rollout with 10 months, the service having initially been available only in Moscow and St Petersburg.
In some locations in Russia over 25% of Vimplecom’s broadband subscribers now also receive Beeline TV.
