German public broadcaster ZDF has reported record profits of €52.9 million. The network also said it is to expand its multi screen activities.
At the moment, the broadcaster’s website attract six million viewers a month. There are around 30,000 videos, 3,400 picture sets and almost 23 500 documents available.
The channel’s catch-up TV service Mediathek is also gaining in popularity with 30 million views during the first six months of the year.
The portal’s mobile Apps for Android and iPhone were launched on September 6 and have already been downloaded 390,000 times.
ZDF is also further developing the online portals, and zdf.de , heute.de (news and current affairs) ad sport.zdf.de (sports). Expansion is also under way for the online and mobile presence of its digital channels ZDFinfo, ZDFkultur and ZDFneo.
In addition, the public broadcaster will be expanding its HbbTV offer during the next few months. This includes an HbbTV app and mobile Apps for 3Sat. For its current affair Phoenix channel, ZDF plans to introduce more social media apps to better interact with its audience.
With regards to ‘regular television’, ZDF will introduce an HD version of its kids channels KiKa next May.
