YouTube is now offering over 1,000 movie British and Hollywood movie titles to rent to UK audiences. The service has already been introduced in the United States and Canada.
Headlining the list are blockbusters like The Dark Knight and Reservoir Dogs, and new releases such as Hanna, Fast Five, and Red Riding Hood, and British classics like Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
Movies are priced at between £2.49 (€2.87) and £3.49. Customers can then wait up to 30 days before watching their chosen title; they then have 48 hours during which they can view it as many times as they like. Payment is taken online and uses the customer’s existing YouTube account.
In addition to their PCs customers are pointed towards Android devices and, if they are one of the few in the UK to have one, Google TV.
A number of YouTube Movie Extras have also been added with free behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, parodies, clips and remixes from the YouTube’s community.
