The Hungarian regulator NMHH has approved the merger of the leading commercial broadcaster RTL Klub and the IKO group.
According to Realdeal, the move has been approved by the Hungarian competition office (GVU) and will result in RTL gaining control of the Romanian-registered cable channels Cool, Film+, Film+ 2, Reflektor, Prizma and Sorozat+, as well as the Hungarian channel Muzsika TV.
NMHH has also classified RTL Klub and TV2, along with the radio stations NeoFM and Class FM, as leading broadcasters.
As a result, they will have additional responsibilities, including a requirement to provide more news bulletins.
