Romania’s supreme court (The High Court of Cassation and Justice) has upheld a fine of around €4 million on UPC Romania.
According to ZF, it was imposed by the Competition Council back in 2006 on Cablevision of Romania and UPC Romania (which succeeded Astral Telecom) for abusing their dominant positions in the marketplace.
Both Cablevision of Romania and UPC Romania tried to get the fine overturned by the Court of Appeal, and although it ruled in their favour, the Competition Council referred the matter to The High Court of Cassation and Justice.
Although it has passed its judgement on UPC Romania, Cablevision of Romania is still awaiting a final ruling.
