FTTH is growing steadily in Spain, with the number of registered lines as of this August already at 121,352, according to data published by the regulator CMT.
This represented an increase of 219.9% on the corresponding month in 2010.
DSL was nevertheless by far the leading technology for delivery of services, with 8,771,578 lines (+5.1% year-on-year).
Telefónica accounted for the lion’s share of the total (5,382,128), though its share was 2.1% down on a year earlier.
The cable modem total meanwhile stood at 2,019,940, or 6% more than in August 2010.
