Sky Deutschland has terminated the distribution of its Music Choice Extra bouquet of non-stop music channels on October 1.
The German pay-TV platform cited a continuous decline in interest in the audio services due to the availability of an abundance of free to air radio stations. “Usage in recent years has fallen further and further,” according to Sky D.
“Currently our focus is on expanding the HD service and the start or the expansion of innovative services such as Sky Anytime and Sky go, to give you an even better TV experience.”
In June 2010, Music Choice closed its service on the BSkyB platform after failing to come to agreement on a new carriage deal.
In April this year Music Choice Europe was sold to Stingray Digital, the Montreal-based operator of music-channels that include The Karaoke Channel.
