Eight new high definition channels are to be carried on the Kabel Deutschland (KDG) network, including six in the basic digital access package.
The initial six; ProSieben HD, Sat.1 HD, kabel eins HD, sixx HD, Sport1 HD and Servus TV will be carried from October 5, 2011. Two more channels are promised for the pay-TV package from December.
KDG is taking advantage of the additions to put in a €1 price increase to its B2C basic digital access package to €18.90 per month. There are also changes to the pricing for multi-dwelling units taking the KDG feed.
By the end of the year Kabel Deutschland plans to carry 26 HD channels over its network – Sky Deutschland is close to 40 – the KDG total does not include HD channels from RTL where negotiations are ongoing.
