SBS Nederland has said that its online VOD platform Veamer has become the largest on-demand provider in the Netherlands. Veamer offers movies and TV series on a transactional basis.
Veamer has been active in the Dutch market for two years. Jeroen Verbeek, director of SBS Interactive Media, said he now hopes to take the service to the next level: “The ambition is to make Veamer this year available on connected TVs.”
Veamer has become the largest VOD provider on the internet in the Netherlands, according to SBS. There are 4,500 titles avaialble and the offer is still growing. Sales in the second year grew by 75% compared to the first year.
In the past two years the Harry Potter films proved to be very popular on the service. Dutch movies such as Er komt een vrouw bij de Dokter, Loft, De Eetclub, De Gelukkige Huisvrouw and New Kids: Turbo are doing very well.
Also series from the female skewed SBS channel Net 5 are doing well on Veamer.Series include the new season of Rizzoli & Isles, Fringe and Gossip Girl.
