IBC 2011 – AMSTERDAM. At the Eutelsat stand there was a showcase of the Arte+7 catch-up TV services over satellite based on an Aston set top box.
The demonstration showed Arte programmes to be delivered via satellite to a user’s hard disk connected to a satellite set-top-box produced by Aston.
Access to Arte +7 is using push VOD software developed by Quadrille that specialises in VOD networks, and installed in the set-top-box and at the Fransat uplink platform at Eutelsat’s teleport near Paris.
Quadrille detailed the full solution involving an Aston STB, which is a Diva HD Premium DVB-S2 MPEG-4 HD PVR ready STB, embedding Quadrille’s patented QuadriCast agent.
QuadriCast content management and push platform are integrated and operated in Fransat’s uplink in Rambouillet near Paris.
Arte’s content is periodically pushed by Quadrille’s QuadriCast head-end over Atlantic Bird 3 satellite, down to a hard disk drive storage attached locally to the Aston STB.
Arte +7 service gives access to Arte’s programmes over a period of seven days in catch-up mode. It is already widely available as a web TV service.
