IBC 2011 – AMSTERDAM. LoveFilm considers Benelux and Italy as interesting markets that it may expand to at a future date.
Speaking in a conference session entitled Cutting the cord. Will traditional broadcasting survive? Simon Morris, the company’s CMO, it has more options now that it is not thinking just about DVD rental.
He added that LoveFilm had looked at launching in Spain as far back as 2004 but concluded it would have lost all its stock in two months.
Morris also said that the biggest problem confronting LoveFilm today is the huge variety of rights it would have to acquire, in what would be a very complex process, when moving into a new market.
LoveFilm is currently present in the UK, Germany and Nordics.
