Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has approved the formation of a joint venture between France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom.
The two telcos already have a strong presence in Poland – the former’s assets include the incumbent TPSA and Orange and PTK, the operator of Orange, while the latter owns PTC, the operator of T-Mobile – and the new 50/50 joint venture, based in Brussels, will be able to make more acquisitions in the country.
The UOKiK is required to investigate any transaction in which the participants have a combined turnover of over 1 billion globally or €50 million in Poland in the previous year.
