Channel 4 has for the first time made public the audiences for its on demand service 4oD.
The broadcaster says that for the year to date the number of VOD views to Channel 4 programmes were 242 million. The top three programmes in July were the soap Hollyoaks (1,820,000 views), panel game 8 Out of 10 Cats (1,075,681) and drama Sirens (1,060,235).
By contrast the number of video views enjoyed by the BBC iPlayer for July alone was 153 million. Its top programme was BBC Two show Top Gear with 1,256,000 views. Further down the chart panel game Mock the Week, also a BBC Two programme, delivered 617,000 views.
Channel 4 is counting channel4.com, YouTube, SeeSaw, iOS, PlayStation, BT Vision, Virgin Media, and Talk Talk.
