The Czech public broadcaster Ceske Televize (CT) plans to change its strategy following the withdrawal of advertising on two of its four channels this November.
Quoted in E15, its business manager Robert Kvapil says it will focus increasingly on product placement and sponsorship on CT1 once the channel no longer carries commercials.
CT24 will also stop selling advertising, which will be retained on CT2 and CT4, with the proceeds being used to finance the production of cultural and sports programming.
Significantly, there will be no major changes in the programming profiles of the four channels accompanying the withdrawal of advertising.
CT1 will continue to serve a mainstream, family audience and CT2 specific target audiences. CT24 will remain news-based and CT4 continue to offer sports programming.
