The Belgian public broadcaster VRT has launched its first iPad app called Videozone, which bundles all video content from a number of their websites.
With Videozone, viewers can access all videos from three thematic VRT websites, deredactie.be, sporza.be and cobra.be, which offer news and sports items, as well as news about the arts.
The service is free to use, but the app is subject to a one-off fee of €3.99. The broadcaster plans to offer videos from other thematic sites and some of these will carry a charge.
iPad users can download the videos for offline playback later, but each item will be erased after a 24 hour period.
Stijn Lehaen, head of digital media at VRT, said in a statement: “The VRT will be present on all relevant screens that people access. With this app we bring the existing strong thematic video offering Deredactie.be, sporza.be and Cobra.be in an optimal way for the iPad. The Videozone app forms a nice addition to the three existing sites.”
