NDS technologies make content the cornerstone

August 16, 2011 11.29 Europe/London By Julian Clover

IBC 2011. Hall.1 Stand No.1.A71. Technologies that enhance the value of content make up NDS’ activity at this year’s IBC with solutions for the delivery of multiscreen content, over-the-top and the well-established middleware and conditional access platforms.

Commenting on NDS’ presence at IBC, Dave Habiger, chief executive officer, NDS Group said: “As the industry expands and we see new technologies driving change, quality content remains the cornerstone of the pay-TV platform. Our solutions provide an adaptable framework to enable the ultimate viewing experience by adding value to content for both the consumer and the platform operator.”

The NDS Unified Headend provides a single framework for the management of multiple platforms, including the ability to manage cross-platform offers and implement solutions for the development of third party companion device applications with the NDS Service Delivery Platform (SDP). Launched in March, NDS will show a number of independently developed apps, which showcase the available functionality of the SDP.

NDS will also be showcasing the NDS Unified Gateway, an end-to-end solution that combines NDS experience in set-top box software, UI design and DRM, with subsidiary Jungo’s experience in residential gateways to enable a whole-home experience with content and service across a wide range of IP enabled entertainment and communication devices.

In over-the-top TV, the InfiniteTV suite of technologies provide the tools to manage negotiations and OTT delivery of specialised content with multiple business models.

The NDS Snowflake UI has now selected by a number of leading operators including Portuguese cable operator ZON and Liberty Global for deployment at UPC, provides intuitive and elegant navigation of content and services across devices with a minimalist look and feel.
