Boxee for iPad is now available for free in the App Store, the company has announced. The new iPad app is accompanied by the Boxee Media Manager for streaming videos from a computer to the iPad.
The new iPadd App has fiver major functions: Friends, Watch Later, Featured, PC to iPad, iPad to TV. With the Friend function. Boxee automatically delivers new videos to friends share on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr directly to the iPad.
Watch Later offers the possibiity to bookmark videos from the internet and have them waiting on your iPad and any other device running Boxee. Featured has recommendations from Boxee’s editorial staff.
With PC to iPad Boxee streams videos from any PC or Mac to the iPad over WiFi. Boxee claims it will make videos in almost any format play on the iPad through the new Boxee Media Manager. Finally, Send to TV send videos straight to the TV via a Boxee Box.
Boxee writes on its official blog: “Boxee for iPad gives you one place to discover, watch, and share video from the web and your computer. We built the app to be useful for any iPad user, even those who have never heard of Boxee before, but it has the added benefit for current Boxee Box users that you can send video to your flat screen through it (we’ll include this for Mac/PC users in the fall update).”
