AustriaSat licences new HD Austria receivers

August 11, 2011 09.25 Europe/London By Robert Briel

The Austrian DTH platform AustriaSat has started to license the first satellite receivers for the new HD Austria bouquet that will launch later this year. Products from Loewe, Wisi and Hirschmann are part of the first slate of certified receivers.

From Loewe an LED-TV set with integrated satellite receiver and CI+ module for HD Austria will be available. Hirschmann and Wisi will each bring stand alone satellite receivers on the market, respectively the Hirschmann S-92 and Wisi 605.

These devices are all suitable for use with the Irdeto 3.10 ICE smart card from ORF/TÜV. The HD Austria platform will be available from September. The new service was first announced in May.

“With the submission of our product for certification by TÜV according to the latest guidelines of the ORF, we underline the confidence that Loewe products are very well prepared for current technical requirements of the market,” said Andreas Stolar of Loewe Austria.

The full line-up for HD Austria is not yet known, but will certainly include the HD versions of the main ORF channels. From the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, four channels will be part of the offer, Sat.1 Österreich HD, ProSieben Austria HD and Kabel Eins Austria HD as well as the dedicated Austrian private channel Puls 4.
