AMC/Sundance adds five new distribution deals

August 10, 2011 09.02 Europe/London By Robert Briel

AMC/Sundance Channel Global has announced additional carriage for Sundance Channel and WE tv with distributors in five countries across Europe and Asia for its international television networks and VOD services.

In Europe, Sundance Channel makes its debut in Greece on OTE, the country’s incumbent telecommunications provider. The network is launching on OTE’s 24/7 IPTV platform as a linear channel and will be followed by a satellite and VOD offering.

The network is also launching in three Eastern European markets for the first time with carriage on UPC Direct’s DTH service. Sundance Channel is launching as a linear channel in HD in Hungary as well as in the Czech and Slovak Republics.

In Asia, Sundance Channel and WE tv are launching in Taiwan on DishHD, Taiwan’s pay TV platform and on Chunghwa, the country’s largest telecom company.

“Our new carriage deals highlight the growing demand for our entertainment services from some of Europe and Asia’s largest and most advanced content distributors,” said Ed Palluth, SVP of global distribution, AMC/Sundance Channel Global. “We look forward to offering our award-winning content to our new distribution partners while giving them the flexibility to optimize our programming for their platform and local viewers.”

“We are committed to offering international audiences high quality, critically-acclaimed independent films and TV shows across multiple genres through the Sundance Channel and WE tv brands,” commented Harold Gronenthal, SVP and general manager, AMC/Sundance Channel Global. “With our services now available across Canada, Europe and Asia, we look forward to continuing our momentum globally to serve audiences as well as our distribution, production and marketing partners.”
