The Dutch Pathe cinema chain has announced the intention to launch its own VOD service called Pathe Thuis (Pathe at Home) before the end of the year. The ambition is to offer the widest available choice of movies on TV, computer, laptop, tablet or mobile phones.
The cinema operator said it is currently negotiating with movie and TV distributors to obtain VOD rights for as many titles as possible. The plan is to offer movies as well as TV series in SD and HD quality, both for rental and for sale.
Pathe indicates movies will cost €5.00 for rental and around €14.50 for download to own. Titles should become available as soon as four months after the initial theatrical release date.
