The performance of Magyar Telekom’s TV operations in its home market was something of a mixed bag in the second quarter.
However, they strongly benefited its financial performance as a whole.
Of particular note was the growth in IPTV subscribers, up by 88.2% year-on-year to 163,824.
Although the number of DTH subscribers grew by a more modest 18.6% to 262,402 over the same period, its cable subscriber total continued to fall, down by 17.1% to 330,548.
The total number of TV subscribers stood at 756,774 (+7%) and blended ARPU HUF3,035 – €11.15 (+4.9%).
Outside Hungary, the telco’s operation in Macedonia posted 33,805 subscribers in the second quarter (+60.4% year-on-year), while in Montenegro the company had 43,194 IPTV subscribers (+30.6%).
TV was one of the few revenue growth areas for Magyar Telekom in Q2, the figure of HUF15,505 million being 14.4% higher than a year earlier.
