Dutch cablenet Ziggo has extended and expanded their distribution agreement for Eurosport and sister channel Eurosport HD.
As part of the agreement Eurosport 2 will now become a key part of Ziggo’s new Plus package, ahead of the launch of a new Dutch language version of the channel in the Benelux region later this year. An HD version will also launch.
Jean-Thierry Augustin, managing director, distribution, rights acquisition and development, said: “We are delighted with our efforts to develop Eurosport in the Netherlands, especially Eurosport 2, which will showcase more football in the Dutch language in 2012.”
Marcel Nijhof, Commercial Director Ziggo, added: “Entertainment is one of the main pillars of Ziggo where sport is definitely indispensable. With the Eurosport channels and programming offer we can serve our customers the best sporting events.”
Eurosport 2 recently acquired the rights for Bundesliga football in 23 territories.
