The Belarusian incumbent telco Beltelecom will remain in state hands for the foreseeable future, according to its general director Sergei Popkov.
Quoted in e-belarus, he was effectively restating the official position, given earlier by Alexander Lukashenko, the country’s president.
Beltelecom’s interests include an IPTV service named TV ZALA with – according to the most recently available figures – 300,000 subscribers.
Its broadband internet subscriber total meanwhile now stands at over 900,000.
Last month Beltelecom began testing what is the first 3D channel in Belarus.
