Danielle Nagler is to leave her post as head of BBC HD and 3D to take up a new role at a city law firm, the BBC has confirmed.
Nagler, who has been in charge of the BBC’s HD and 3D operations since July 2008, previously worked in the director-general’s office.
Roly Keating, the BBC’s director of archive content said Nagler had done a tremendous job: “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Danielle for the exceptional contribution she has made to the BBC, and to Vision in particular: her passion, intellect, energy and drive have made remarkable things happen here, and she’ll be much missed.”
Nagler led the recent BBC broadcast of the Wimbledon tennis championship finals in 3D. During her tenure Nagler launched BBC One HD as a dedicated channel alongside the network-wide BBC HD channel.
Nagler will not have a direct replacement. Instead BBC Two controller Janice Haddow will take on responsibilities for the BBC’s HD output. No replacement has yet been announced for 3D.
