The Hungarian FTA DTT service MinDig TV gained over 52,000 viewers in the period January-May 2011, taking its total to over 220,000.
Its sister subscription service MinDig TV Extra meanwhile saw its subscriber total double over the same period to nearly 30,000.
Commenting on the figures and referring to flash report data produced by the regulator NMHH, Antenna Hungaría, the operator of the two services, said that MinDig TV was the most dynamically growing TV service in Hungary in the first five months of the year and that MinDig TV Extra achieved the highest growth rate among wireless digital TV services.
Separately, the flash report published by the NMHH specifically for May shows that there were a total of 608,580 IPTV and digital cable subscriptions in Hungary, taking into account the 10 major market players, at the end of the month.
The number of DTH and Hello Digital (MMDS) subscribers meanwhile stood at 892,724.
UPC was the leading provider of subscription TV services regardless of technology, with a share of 25.8%, followed by Digi with 23.0% and T-Home with 21.2%.
