UPC Cablecom is preparing to offer its customers mobile telephony following an MVNO agreement with Orange. The move would herald a quad-play package that also included TV, internet and broadband.
The move was confirmed by both companies following local media reports. A launch is anticipated in the near future and Cablecom has already applied for the mobile identifier with the Swiss authorities.
Cablecom had been expected to participate in an auction for mobile capacity being conducted in 2012 by the communications regulator Bakom. Swisscom, Sunrise and Orange are all expected to place bids.
