The online video streaming service Zattoo has launched a new service on its iPad and iPhone apps offering live streaming of 40 channels. Watching the live streams is free, as Zattoo receives money for inserting ads between channel switching.
Viewers need a wi-fi connection in order to see the live streams on their device. The new version 1.2.2 of the Zattoo app is now available in the store for download.
The 40 channels on offer include German private broadcasters ARD and ZDF, but also international news channel CNN as well as other private and public broadcasters such as Sport 1, D-Max, iMusic, 3sat and Arte and all ‘third’ regional channels in Germany.
Zattoo was dounded in 2005 by Sugih Jamin, Beat Knecht, and Wenjie Wang. The live streaming TV service is available in six countries: Denmark, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK. According to the company, there are currently over 6.5 million registered users.
