CFoot, the French football channel from the Ligue de football professionnelle (LFP), will launch on DTT on July 28. For the moment, the channel will be exclusively available on DTT.
Initially, the channel will be part of the TV Num bouquet of premium channels and retail at €3.99 per month. Talks are under way with other distributors including satellite DTH, cable and IPTV operators to add the channel to their line-up. The plan is to offer the channel for two months free of charge in order to make viewers familiar with the service.
CFoot is owned and operated by the French football league LFP and will mainly broadcast Ligue 2 games – the Ligue 1 games are currently with Canal+ and from the 2012 season are split between Canal+ and Al-Jazeera,
However, the football channel will be “all football, not just Ligue 2,” according to the league’s president Jean-Michel Roussier, and will also broadcast women football, amateurs and magazin programmes about football.
