Yorgos Ioannidis will step down as CEO of Romtelecom tomorrow (June 30) after a period of almost four and a half years in the post.
Under his tenure, the Romanian incumbent telco, which is backed by Greece’s OTE and ultimately Deutsche Telekom, has undergone a remarkable transformation and become a leading player in the Romanian pay-TV market, with interests in DTH (Dolce), IPTV (Dolce Interactiv) and cable (NextGen).
Although a successor is likely to be named on July 1, ZF says that the most likely person to succeed Ioannidis is Stefanos Theocharopoulos, currently the CEO of Cosmote Romania.
