One of the architects of BSkyB’s success in the early 1990s is to join Sky Deutschland as executive vice president, programming.
Gary Davey will take over responsibilities for the programming and fiction department at Sky-D, reporting to Brian Sullivan, and managing the platform’s entertainment programming and creative strategy.
Now 57, Davey has spent the majority of his 35-year career as a senior executive with News Corporation in New York, London, Honk Kong and Milan. In addition to managing director of BSkyB, he has also been CEO of Star TV in Hong Kong.
“I am joining Sky at a very exciting time. I am convinced Sky will be a great success because it is founded on the principles of quality and innovation. I am delighted to join a team of people who always focus on the customer, and are dedicated to delivering the best entertainment service in Germany and Austria!” said Davey.
Currently Davey is COO of News Corp Television Stations Europe, from where he will step down to fully commit his time to Sky-D.
