Dutch operator KPN has launched a marketing and publicity campaign around its refreshed Digitenne DTT platform, which includes a live TV studio format based on the Meiden van Holland adult entertainment channel.
Incumbent telecoms operator KPN is taking the adage ‘sex sells’ literally by making the Dutch porn channel Meiden van Holland part of the basic tier of the Digitenne DTT service. As an added gimmick, the channel will broadcast a daily live show, where viewers can participate. Not only by using a web cam, but by actually coming to the studio to perform with the actors and actresses present.
At the same time, KPN has added BBC One and BBC Two to the line-up of channels on the digital terrestrial service, in order to better compete with Dutch cable operators. The operator has extended its platform with an additional multiplex after shut-down of its DVB-H service.
Following a ground breaking distribution deal with BBC Worldwide Channels for the distribution of the domestic BBC networks KPN hope to position itself better as an inexpensive alternative to cable with a complete line-up of channels.
The Meiden van Holland channel is part of the basic tier of the service, but viewers need to activate the channel by registering with KPN’s Digitenne before they can acutually watch it.
