Telenet is bringing in a new EuroDOCSIS 3.0 home gateway for its customers. The Belgian cable operator has selected Compal Broadband Networks Inc’s CH6541E, which includes support for 802.11n as well as for streaming video and other IP services.
The manufacturer says the product is the first cable home gateway to support wireless concurrency (simultaneous support for 2.4GHz and 5GHz), while features including transmit beamforming and space–time block coding that improve the range and performance of streaming applications were previously only found in enterprise products.
“Telenet has developed a good business relationship with Compal Broadband Networks since their take-over of the Motorola EMEA Cable modem business, and we have seen that CBN has proven their capability in developing feature-rich new products with good quality. The successful launch of the CH6541E advanced gateway enables us to offer our end-users even more in-home networking features, higher speeds, and enhanced multimedia experiences, and was a future proof investment.” added Peter Michiels, SVP Network and Service Engineering, Telenet.
Alex Wang, CEO, Compal Broadband Networks added, “We are very proud that Telenet has selected our CH6541E gateway, the most advanced Cable Home Gateway solution shipping in volume today. We believe we can add real value to operators by adding incredible features in an economical way. The CH6541E and our additional products show CBN’s market-leading solutions are enabling cable operators like Telenet to get the most out of their network, with CBN as reliable and flexible partner.”
