Romania’s third largest cable operator Digital Cable Systems (DCS), which employs the brand name AKTA, has added HD channels to its offer in small towns and rural areas.
ZF reports that the company has invested €100,000 in providing subscribers access to the HD versions of Pro TV, Sport.ro, TVR and History, with more channels to be added in the future.
The HD package offered by AKTA costs RON10 (€2.43) a month, with a 50% reduction for AKTA Digital Total customers, or RON20, reduced by 25% for AKTA Digital Start subscribers.
DCS is backed by AIG and ended last year with 180,000 analogue and digital cable subscribers.
This March it was announced that it had entered into an agreement with Romtelecom to sell its AKTA Satelite DTH platform, which had 70,000 subscribers at the end of last year.
