German VOD portal Maxdome, fully owned by private broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1, has signed an agreement with RTL subsidiary Universum Film for the distribution of a number of movies on its platform. The deal includes The King’s Speech.
The move is part of a further expansion of the VOD service, which already offers more than 35,000 titles in Germany and claims to offer the widest VOD choice in the country. Just last week, an agreement was signed with Austrian public broadcaster ORF to offer a number of made-for-TV movies, documentaries and TV series.
Until the end of last year, Maxdome was a joint venture between ProSiebenSat.1 and German ISP United Internet/1&1 Internet, but the broadcaster acquired 100% ownership in December.
