The Russian commercial broadcaster CTC Media has secured a 67% stake in Omsk-based TV Salute for R47 million (€1.18 million).
According to CTC Media, which is backed by Modern Times Group (MTG), this is the company’s third acquisition to date this year, having previously bought companies in Tomsk and ones serving the cities on Samara, Syzran and Toliatti.
TV Salute, which was founded in 1995, broadcast the channel RBK-TV up until the end of 2010 and began to distribute CTC Media’s Domashny this year.
The acquisition of TV Salute has increased the latter’s potential audience in Omsk by over 460,000.
It is also expected to increase CTC Media’s share of the TV ad market in Omsk from 18.1% at the end of last year to 20.9%.
