Technicolor is out of the frame to produce set-top boxes for the UK hybrid platform YouView, sources familiar with the situation have told Broadband TV News.
The French manufacturer, number three in the world by units shipped, was one of the three original brands to be named by YouView in March 2010 as device partners. The other two were Cisco and Humax, though the list has subsequently swelled to include Huawei, Manhattan, Pace and Vestel. Of these Pace is unlikely to launch a retail product, but will instead concentrate on its relationship with YouView shareholder BT.
In April YouView published its core technical specification that is available for download from the YouView website.
