Spain’s Telefónica ended the first quarter with 786,000 pay-TV subscribers in its home market, or 7% more than in the same period last year.
Its fixed broadband market share meanwhile stood at around 53%, or 5.7 million accesses, with over 89% of those accesses included in double or triple play offers.
Elsewhere in Europe, growth in Telefónica’s IPTV operation in the Czech Republic remained flat, the 129,000-subscriber figure in the first quarter being identical to that three months earlier.
Telefónica’s overall performance in the first quarter saw strong revenue growth in Europe (+8.4%) and Latin America (+26%) offset its performance in Spain (-5.6%).
Thanks to diversification, 71% of the company’s revenues and 64% of OIBDA are now generated outside Spain.
OIBDA in Q1 amounted to €5,574 million (+9%) and consolidated net income €1,624 million (-1.9%). Operating cash flow stood at €4,022 million (+2.5%).
