Sky News has appointed Andrew Hawken as its head of digital media. Hawken will work across all of the broadcaster’s digital platforms; Skynews.com, interactive TV, Sky News mobile services, and the recently launched Sky News for iPad.
The RTS award-winning iPhone app has now been downloaded over two and a half million times.
“Andrew’s huge wealth of editorial and new media experience puts him in prime position to drive forward Sky News’ digital offering. Sky News has always been at the forefront of the digital media arena and I’m confident Andrew will guarantee its future success, “ said head of news John Ryley.
Hawken joined BSkyB as editorial director for Sky’s online portal in October 2006. He has over 28 years experience in journalism, including a stint as general manager of MSN.com, where he was in charge of editorial, planning and product development for the homepage.
