Belgacom has reported that its IPTV service added a net of 54,000 subscribers to a total of 1,029,000 customers as of March 31.
Belgacom TV continues to grow with its revenue +16% and customer base +26% year-over-year. During the first quarter of 2011, TV revenues were up 16% to €51 million entirely driven by customer growth.
Compared to a year ago, the combined bundles added 215,000 subscribers during the past 12 months (54,000 during the first quarter of 2011), driven by the continued success of bundled offers.
At the end of March 2011, the Belgacom TV subscriber base was 1,029,000, including 149,000 multiple set-top boxes. First-quarter ARPU of €19.4 declined 6.6% year-over-year, mainly due to lower one-time revenues from activation and installation and lower on-demand usage.
The Belgacom Group said its total revenues amount to €1,583 million, i.e. a 3.5% decrease compared to the same period last year. This decrease takes account of the negative impact of regulation (€52 million, or 3.2%).
Under the highly competitive pressure, fixed-line erosion continued (-52,000 lines) and the mobile customer base declined to 5,304,000 (-28,000).
