BSkyB has appointed Elaine Pyke as the director of the recently launched Sky Atlantic. She has been head of drama at Sky for the last seven years and will report into director of programmes and Sky Entertainment commissioning editor Stuart Murphy.
Sky’s strategy has been to concentrate its efforts on a limited number of glossy productions. These have included adaptations from authors including Chris Ryan, Terry Pratchett and Martina Cole. Many have found their way onto Sky One, but the launch of Sky Atlantic in February has providing an additional outlet, sitting alongside the HBO content that was the channel’s original draw.
Murphy described Pyke’s intellect, passion and creative flair as being “second to none”.
