Conax has secured an agreement with the Russian DTH operator Orion Express.
Under it, the latter’s Orient Express package at 140 degrees East will be delivered to viewers in Siberia and the Far East of the country in MPEG-2 and encrypted with Conax, in addition to the Irdeto CAS currently in use.
Employing Conax security will significantly increase the number of compatible set-top boxes that subscribers can use to receive Orient Express.
Low-cost ones already include the officially sanctioned Globo X80, which has all the key features.
The cost of receiving the service, including a set-top box and Conax smart card with one month’s subscription, starts at R1,900 (€46.6).
Orion Express, which is one of at least 7-8 DTH operators in Russia, employs both the 140 degrees East and 85.15 degrees East orbital positions.
