The strike called by unions to protest at job losses at Prisa TV, the former Sogecable, is beginning to take effect. Already the NBA has warned that the operator of the Digital+ platform will screen no matches before the end of the season and weather forecasts have also been taken off-air.
There are now fears that both Prisa’s own productions and the retransmission of third party channels could be affected before the current wave of action ends on Friday.
The strikes were called after new shareholder Liberty Acquisition Holdings demanding a reduction in Prisa TV’s cost base. Some 145 employees out of a total of 1,150 are expected to lose their jobs with a further 500 outsourced roles also expected to be impacted.
A further strike has been called for April 29th that is also expected to disrupt Digital+ output.
