Virgin Media has confirmed it is introducing a new 500 GB TiVo box from mid-May.
The introduction is part of the cableco’s long-term ambition to make the connected PVR more widely available across its installed base.
Like the current 1TB model (pictured), the new device is also being manufactured by Cisco. It is capable of recording up to 250 hours of TV, while retaining all the functionality of the first TiVo powered box, including three tuners and the dedicated internal broadband modem to power the services’ connected features.
Whilst the 1TB box is available exclusively to the ‘top-tier’ ‘XL’ TV customers, the 500GB box will be available to all Virgin Media pay-TV customers for £49.95, extending availability to L and M+ tiers.
Further details are expected to be released ahead of launch.
